Something that is very important to me is being healthy and living an active life. This probably is one of the bigger challenges that I see in America today because of all of the temptation of fast food and other horrible food choices. These companies make it very easy for people to get this food because they might have something called a "Dollar Menu." Now it pretty likely that many people that go to Macdonal's are going to consider ordering off of the dollar menu because well, its a dollar. In addition to that, know one wants to spend or then that if they are looking for a quick lunch or dinner. I really have a huge problem with this.
It really isn't fair to all of the people here in the US to have these places have food for so cheap because it is enticing people to buy their product when people know that there is 29 grams of fat in a Big Mac. Obviously that is horrible for you, but people are looking at the nutritional facts on the back of the box because why would you. But this is the problem that many people are obese. It shouldn't be legal to sell food to people that is generally horrible for their health if our country is so focused on making sure that people are healthy and all that. If the US is going to do anything about make sure that people are healthy and are going to live a long life, then they need to really consider getting rid of all of the fast food places in America. Or at least limit the amount of them in the country.
This transitions into my next point about how people should live and active life to help their health. For example, there is the Play 60 sponsored by the NFL to get children to have at least 60 minutes of exercise a day. Great I think that this a fantastic way to make sure that children are being active. But what about everyone else? They should be at least getting 60 minutes a day of active. Even if that is going on a 2 mile walk at least they are exercising in some way to help with their health. At least where I am from there are gyms popping up all over the place now because people are trying to be healthier and change their lives. That is so important and should be encouraged by the government or some type of high power in the US. I honestly commend those people that are 250 LBS and up that are going to the gym or exercising because at least they are trying to change their lives for the better and they are the true inspiration for getting healthy. Not someone that is ripped out of they mind where you can see every single muscle and you can have an anatomy lesson just by looking at them. Now I understand that those people either take steroids or do something that isn't natural, but regardless they can be someone that people can look up to and say "Hey I might not be able to get to that level of fit, but at least I can try!" I just think that if your live a healthy life then other things in your life will just fall into place.

Never Give Up
Never give up is something that I have lived by for my whole life and it is a real testament to who I am. I understand that this sounds very cliché, but it something that can describe what type of person I want to be. I take a lot of things in my life very seriously and it really helps me push towards my goals and just makes me a better person. It puts many things in perspective for yourself in what you need to work towards and what you have achieved. One thing that I take very seriously is soccer because it has been a job for probably the past 7-8 years of my life. The practices where you can't hold back in and have to put everything into everything you do makes you better. Never giving up on anything in soccer has gotten me to where I am today. I can thank some people in my life for pushing me to my limit to where I thought I wasn't going to make it, but you have to put everything you have to get better. If your not going to put everything you have into something then why do it? If your going to get better at anything then your going to have to practice it so many times to get better. There have been many long trips to Texas, Florida, and Canada just to name a few. So many hours of practice have gone into make sure that when it comes time for those games I am ready to perform at my best when the whistle blows.
I have this type of mentality when really doing anything in life outside of sports. School is a huge commitment and I have to divot many hours of homework to make sure I understand the material that we are learning. Being and education major make you retain a lot of information that you will carry onto the next class and have to apply it to what your learning then. It only right that I put that type of effort into making sure that I will be a great teacher and make my students understand the material so they can be successful. In addition, making sure that the students that have special needs I am making sure that they met. Just having a mentality to never want to give up have brought me to where I am today and I wouldn't have it any other way.

ED Tech Experience
There are so many different experiences that I had when I was in K-12. I guess I should start back in middle school where in many of my classes we were able to get lap tops on a cart once a week to use to explore the Internet. For example, in my history class our teacher would let us go on the computer and figure out a good source that we could potentially use in class about what were learning. I thought it was a great tool that we could really figure out many different ways that we could get our knowledge without just listening to our teacher the entire time.
In addition, in 8th grade we were learning about architecture and how bridges were build in science class. So David and I were partners in trying to build a bridge, that was made out of popsicle sticks, that would be able to hold up different types of weights. So were used the computers to build the different bridges that we were thinking about on this program. The name of the program isn't important, but we were able to model a bridge on this program then print the lay out and then construct the bridge. Therefore it would be able to hold a considerable amount of weight to get a good grade. I haven't been back to that class in many years, but I plan on going back to that class to see if the students are still doing the same things I did when I was in 8th.
Now this brings us to high school where the first day of school we were informed that we were all going to be given lap tops. Obviously we were all pumped about getting our own lap tops, but there were many things we didn't know about them. First off, when we got the lap tops so many things were blocked that we really couldn't even do work on them. Such as go on google. Really don't know why they blocked that. Anyway, the lap tops were coming in handy when we were still doing projects online that normally we would have to wait to get a lap top from the library or go to the computer lab to get on one of the school computers. We were not able to take notes with the lap tops which changed everything. I think that is a very big reason why I am a faster typer now because i would have to keep up with what my teachers where saying during a discussion. Also, when I first got to college it seemed to be forbidden to use our lap tops to take notes, so now I hardly use my lap top for that purpose. It was so interesting to be able to connect with people online with the lap tops we were given. In my Modern World class our teacher set up a Facebook simulation where we had to take on some kind of focal character from WWII. So you could choose like Hitler or anyone that would be in that realm. But it was a great way to interact and learn about the people during that time period.
I think that my high school experience is going to greatly help me for when I start teaching.

What brings me to SNHU? Journey to EDU-235
Well the first things that really got me hooked to the school was its outstanding soccer program that I am very lucky to be apart of. It was a dream of mine to play college soccer. But, other then the soccer program, the small campus feel that I got when I first stepped foot onto SNHU was extremely different then any other campus I looked at. It seemed like everyone knew everyone and you weren't just a number in a crowd. It was important to me to find a school that really had all that I was looking for and that I would feel wanted at the university. So I looked into their School of Education program that they offered and it sounded like a great fit. Teachers would know you by name, everyone is there to make sure you succeed, and we would be learning from teachers that have experienced everything first hand. Which they are able to bring into the classroom and share their experiences with us to prepare us for the Educational field.
So i graduated high school in the winter of 2013 and started at SNHU just two days later. Sure it was a high step when I was just a little high school senior going to a college with no idea what I was getting myself into, but I knew it was time for a change. Break out of the Windham, NH bobble that I was so comfortable in for all 19 year of my life.
So I started taking classes at SNHU and enjoyed the experiences I was getting in the education classes and knew that I picked the correct major. I started off by taking EDU 200 and it was one the best classes that I have ever taken. It really got me involved with the schools in the area and it made for a great experience. Next, semester i took more EDU classes and it was even better then the last. If the classes that i keep taking in this field keep getting better then I think I have chosen the correct path for myself.
So that brings me to EDU 235. I am not the best when it comes to technology, but i at least have an understanding of what things are and it doesn't take me long to figure out how things work. Coming from a high school where every student was given a lap top so we were all tech savy per say. We even had the polyvision board in our classroom to advance our learning. So coming from a high school like that i think that it will greatly help me for this class and the advancing technology that is happening in the school systems. I'm very excited for this class and can't wait for it to get under way.
